Wonderbra--Your Breasts Will Destroy Glass Enclosures

Wonderbra has just released (yes, unleashed..hardy harr harr) this ad, featuring, as you can see, a very well endowed woman with, from what I can tell, rock hard nipples. To me, this seems like a very effective ad, at the very least it draws attention to the product they're trying to promote. Having said that, I'm a hot blooded male who loves tits, maybe this is an ad that women will hate because it might be construed as sexually exploitative.

What are your thoughts, is this a hit or a miss in your opinion?

"Everyone's Entitled To An Opinion"

This pearl comes from the folks at Greenpeace, with the help of their ad agency Ogilvy, from Beijing, China.

What makes this ad especially funny isn't the text of the actual ad, but that it was commissioned by Greenpeace by a Chinese firm. I believe the word I am looking for here is *Ironic*.

For instance, it's ironic that the campaign is called, "Everyone is Entitled to an Opinion", yet the ad was produced in China. Sure, the Chinese are entitled to an opinion, just as long as it is the same opinion (authorized by the State). Individuality, baby, that's what I'm talking about.

It's also ironic that Greenpeace is obviously an environmental group, yet they use an ad company from a country that has the worst environmental record in the universe. At least I think that's ironic, it may just be plain hypocritical and stupid. You can decide on that one.

I didn't know that bashing GWB was still fashionable, it just seems so 2007. It is, however, good to see that the Chinese had enough guts, followed by having enough freedom to bash another country's President. I'm sure President Hu Jintao will award the ad agency an extra two bisquits and a half a bowl of rice in next week's food package.

Since this ad is all about opinion and how we're entitled to one, here's The Mayor's opinion. I hope you likey:
The Chicoms?
They are so tough that they kill innocent Tibetans.
More rice for everyone!

Or, how about...

Greenpeace?
It's fun to see a bunch of old, disgusting hippies get their boat rammed by the French.
It's like sport.
Hey, it is fun to have an opinion, I'll have to try this more often!

In An Absolut World

Here is part of the apology regarding Absolut Mexico (from The Sisyphus Files)--
The In An Absolut World advertising campaign invites consumers to visualize a world that appeals to them — one they feel may be more idealized or one that may be a bit “fantastic.” As such, the campaign will elicit varying opinions and points of view. We have a variety of executions running in countries worldwide, and each is germane to that country and that population.
Figure this is okay then? I'm sure some people would find it "fantastic" and it sure would elicit *varying opinions and points of view".

Hey, look at Sweden, it's all blue...again.

Sony Anti-Distortion Ad

This is an ad for Sony Anti-distortion HiFi. "For a cleaner sound."

I'm with the good folks at Ads of the World, as in I don't really get what the ad is trying to get across.

Is Sony trying to tell us that before you listen to this new Sony product that you best clean out your ears? I highly doubt it. Are they inferring that I'm deaf? Can't be, they don't even know me. Are they saying that you should stick small cotton swabs into the recesses of your ears because they are filled with musical notes? Possibly, but once again I doubt it.

Maybe you know what they're saying. Help The Mayor out here.

You Say You Want A Redolution

The advertising agency Clemenger BBDO, of Melbourne, Australia, unveiled their newest ad, *Redolution*, the other day to mostly positive reviews.

The ad is part and parcel of a bigger campaign that allows people to vote on which M & M colour they think is the best.

I have a mixed reaction to this. On the one hand I think it is very clever. Kudos to the art department, they did a really sweet job on this.

On the other hand, I'm not sure why the 'old commie' theme is so fashionable. I'm not a big fan of retro commie and I've never seen the attraction to gaudy Russian art. That's just me though, perhaps you see things differently.

What do you think of this ad, yea or nay?

Is This Ad Racist?

The verdict is in, and it seems that the ad agency which created this ad for Intel has been let go. Reason? It's a racist ad. Why is it racist? Apparently it suggests black men bowing to their white overlord.

Hmmmmmm.

I'm not sure I get it. The ad agency is following all the correct tools in its politically correct marketing repertoire: They have strong black men represented, and a weak, nerdy white guy. It's formula, isn't it? Think of how many ads on TV that have a weak, nerdy white guy. Or radio ads that have nasally white guys saying stupid things that make white guys look like tools. Or TV shows that depict, fat, weak, stupid, beaten down, white moronic men. Why should this ad be any different?

I've heard many comments regarding this ad. They range from, "it's a racist ad because it shows black men submitting to a white guy", to, "it reinforces the notion that black men have a lesser value in society than white men" (???)

If you agree that this ad portrays black people in a negative light, and that the creators of this ad, and Intel, are racist, I'm sorry, there is no hope for you. If anything, the creators and Intel are completely NOT racist. Do you think they would purposely release (now pulled) a racist ad knowing the highly charged, racial powder keg that is the US? Not on your life.

Statutory Rape Ad Causes Confusion

The Family Violence Partnership in Milwaukee, commissioned the ad agency Serve, to raise awareness of statutory rape, which they did through a series of in-your-face ads like these ones.

I'm not so sure about the effectiveness of these ads, I'm not even sure what the message is exactly. Also, I haven't been able to figure out who their target audience is in this whole thing.

I suppose the ad agency is trying to get the point across that if you see a little girl and you have a mental image of her as a sexual object, you need help. My problem with that line of thinking, is that if you are a pedophile, you're not going to change your views on young children because you see an ad of a young girl with enormous breasts.

Besides, pedophiles most likely aren't envisioning little girls with large breasts when they see them, they are probably envisioning little girls with little breasts. Pedophiles seek children, so the ad doesn't seem like it applies to them.

To me, all I see is a little girl with huge breasts, a freak of nature. But seeing as breasts are breasts no matter who's sporting them, I'm still checking them out. Does that mean I need help? Am I the target audience?

I don't think this series of ads are very well thought out. I think it lacks a definitive value proposition and its message is scattered. I suppose the argument can be made that any advertising is good advertising, but in this case we're not even sure what is being advertised, so it would be near impossible to argue the ads merits when we haven't a clue what they might be.

I'm curious as to what your thoughts might be. Have I missed the point? Is this type of ad campaign actually effective?

Naked Man Ads Piss Off Catholics

A fitness company in Boston is under fire from Catholic groups after running ads depicting nuns sketching a naked male body:
"It says a great deal about this perverse obsession in both the fashion industry and the advertising industry of exploiting and mocking and sexualizing Catholic religious imagery," Doyle said.

The fitness company responded with a written statement saying, "Our ad campaigns are based on personal motivation and fantasy and throughout history the body has been considered a form of art."
I'm sure the riots will start any minute now, prepare for the streets to run with the blood of infidels.

More than anything, this ad doesn't bother me because it mocks religion, it bothers me because it's such a lame ad. It's like ad companies aren't even trying to be creative any more. The concept of nuns being naughty isn't original or even funny, it's plain stupid, wrapped in retarded and done to death. Simply, it's plagiarism.

If the ad company, or the gym, wanted to be original, cutting edge, and pushing the so-called envelope, they would have a bunch of middle eastern women in veils painting a naked Imam. Or maybe the ad execs and the gym owners decided that they would rather live.

It's not cutting edge when you're mocking people that you know won't fight back, it's actually bullying. At the very least it's pathetic and says an awful lot about what kind of losers run that gym.

Miller Hi-Life Pulls Ad For Lowlifes

Miller Brewing, a sponsor of this weekend's fetish street fair in San Francisco, has asked to have its logo removed from an advertising poster:
"While Miller has supported the Folsom Street Fair for several years, we take exception to the poster the organizing committee developed this year. We understand some individuals may find the imagery offensive and we have asked the organizers to remove our logo from the poster effective immediately," the company told Cybercast News Service on Tuesday.
However, since there is no mention of Miller pulling its support from the festival itself, I can only conclude that Miller is still a sponsor, they just don't want their name on the poster. Which is rather hypocritical.

Miller pulls its logo from the poster because the poster offends Christian's, yet Miller still supports the festival, which, according to commenters from yesterdays post, is a festival where people openly have sex in the streets, whip each other is sado/mosochistic rituals and perform lewd acts in public (where children have been openly invited to attend by event organizers). That not only offends Christians, that's pretty offensive to everybody.

My point isn't to rain down on the fetish festival, my point is that Miller needs to get its act together. Stop acting like a bunch of hypocrits and take a stand. If you approve of the festival, go whole hog into it. If you don't approve, then bow out gracefully. They're not fooling anyone by pretending to be some sort of moral compass by taking their logo off the ad, meanwhile, on the street corner in full view of children, some guy is blowing some dude who's dressed like a monkey while drinking that piss Miller calls beer.

Or something like that.

Who's responsible for sending me this? Take a guess.

Anorexic Ad Gets Heavy

After super skinny models caused such an uproar at the Milan Fashion Week last year, Milan banned girls with a body mass index of below 18 from its catwalks, announced a new catwalk code of conduct which obliges models to carry medical certificates, and opened fashion week with a show featuring more shapely models. To top it off, they came out with this ad featuring an anorexic woman:
Isabelle Caro, the French woman who appears in the photo, has been anorexic for 15 years, weighs 31 kg (68 lb) and suffers from the skin disease psoriasis.

"I hid myself and covered myself up for too long," she told Vanity Fair magazine in an interview to be published on Wednesday. "Now I want to show myself without fear even though I know my body is repugnant."

The Nolita campaign has received backing from the Ministry of Health, and the statement quotes Health Minister Livia Turco saying it can "promote responsibility towards the problem of anorexia".
Repugnant? I happen to find women with extremely pointy kneecaps to be super-duper hotness personified. Yum yum.

A long time ago I made it my personal goal to only date women that don't cost me more than 17 cents per meal. There is nothing sexier to me than watching a woman mow down on a string of spaghetti for 7 hours... and then going to the washroom to puke it out. I know this may be offensive to many of you, but so is the word penis, cock, titties and bumhole. What's my point? I have no point, but I don't get to type the word bumhole very often.

Getting back to the skinny broad for a second. Anorexics don't care about what other women look like, they only care what THEY themselves look like. That's why these ads won't work (other than getting me fully erect and randy as a fly on shit). How do I know that anorexics think this way? The 4 anorexics in my glove box told me so.

Momma mia!

Alicia Silverstone In A PETA AD--She Was Also In Clueless

Alicia Silverstone, star of Clueless (the movie, not her real life), is in a new series of ads for PETA:
"I'm Alicia Silverstone, and I'm a vegetarian," the 30-year-old says in the PETA spot. "There's nothing in the world that's changed me as much as this. I feel so much better and have so much more energy."
Good for you.

I find that the only people more annoying in this world than reformed smokers are vegetarians. I'm so fed up with all the sanctimonious preaching these little pricks do, I'd like to sew their mouths shut, but not before I force feed them a dozen chicken wings marinated in puppy blood.

It's the Hollyweirdo vegetarians that get under my skin. Other *normal* vegetarians like Lisa are cool about meat eaters, she isn't preachy and bitchy about it. Maybe it's because she believes in freedom, unlike those non-meat eating ass suckers in Hollyweird.

These malcontents don't understand that for every time they come on the radio and TV and tell us how great they are for being a vegetarian and how bad we are because we are meatatarians, it just makes me double my meat eating efforts. Tomorrow I'm going to eat two hamburgers, 3 lbs of veal and possibly a panda bear, if I can steal one from the zoo.

I also call bullshit on vegetarians claiming they are so healthy. For every vegetarian second rate actress like Alicia Silverstone (clueless HA), there are 100 meat eating Jessica Simpson and Gemma Atkinsons. And truth be told, I'd rather be feeding from the ample milk-bags Gemma has hanging from her meat-eating frame than sucking on those mosquito bites Alicia has drooping from her emaciated veggie chest.

Ya, so that's it.

Tom Ford Releases New Fragrance

Tom Ford released his new fragrance today with the ad pictured above. I've been fortunate enough to inhale this fragrance before and I really like the musky, juicy smell of it. It reminds me of the great outdoors, of beavers and bush. I was so impressed I bought 20 cases of it. It's completely opposite to the fragrance he released last year, that stuff really smelled like shit.

Got Milk?

Hayden Panettiere, who turned 18 yesterday, is the new *Got Milk* spokesperson. Hayden is in the middle of a small controversy it seems. Many commenters are saying today that Hayden has gone overboard with this campaign because this ad obviously has sexual overtones written all over it.

To that I say: What is so overtly sexual about a picture of a nubile 18 year old girl with sperm on her upper lip?

Answer me that!
