Gwen Stefani Dresses Up For Islam

Performing in Malaysia, Gwen Stefani put away her trademark slutty clothing and wore costumes that showed almost no skin, in an attempt to appease angry Islamic organizations:

The 37-year-old pop star wowed fans in Muslim-majority Malaysia on Tuesday, performing in costumes that showed almost no skin after Islamic critics claimed that her revealing clothes could corrupt the country's youth.

In an interview with Galaxie, a local entertainment magazine, Stefani said she had made many changes for Malaysia, calling it a "major sacrifice."

"I've been in the music industry for 20 years and this is the first time that I'm facing opposition from people who have misunderstood me," she was quoted as saying.

You call that a sacrifice? They would have lopped off her head and pissed down her neck if she wore what she usually wears...now that's a sacrifice.

The article goes on to explain what else the Islamics demand of its performers and what performers must do to appease the religion of peacenics:

Under government guidelines, a female artist must be covered from the top of her chest, including shoulders, to her knees. No jumping, shouting or throwing of objects onstage or at the audience is allowed. Performers also cannot hug or kiss, and their clothes must not have obscene or drug-related images or messages.

Those concerts must be a real hoot, I'm surprised they don't make the women read from the Koran. Haha, just kidding, everyone knows women aren't allowed to read from the Koran in Islamic nations.

I don't actually have a problem with Gwen dressing down (or is it up?) to satisfy her Moslem overlords. When in Rome, as they say. But performers should remind themselves of this incident the next time they bash Bush and America and call their gov't a bunch of Nazi's and call America a land of fascists. Maybe it should be mandatory for every performer to go on tour for one year to Moslem lands and taste those sweet Islamic freedoms. That'll shut their gobs up quick smart.
