Alchemy for Investors
There are twenty two major trumps in a tarot deck.

The three layer pattern. You can arrange the cards into three lines of seven. The trump The Fool is not included in this arrangement (unfortunately, included in this graphic ... just pretend it is not there). Thus, you have trumps one through seven in the first line, eight through fourteen in the second, and fifteen through twenty one in the last. Interestingly enough, trump 11 Justice, which corresponds to the astrological sign Libra, is at the point of equilibrium (center of mass) of this arrangement. If you contemplate this arrangement, you will begin to perceive a variety of amusing and edifying correspondences.
The cube of space. This is a three dimensional arrangement of the cards. The seven trumps that correspond to the seven planets also correspond to the six faces of the cube, with trump 21 The world, is assigned to the center of the cube. The twelve trumps that correspond to astrological signs correspond to the twelve edges of the cube. The three remaining trumps correspond to change of basis vectors, namely up-down (the Fool), north-south, and east-west. Again, contemplation of this mathematical system, allied with it's astrological correspondences, will yield up a rich crop of insights.
Having given you the most meager taste of the alchemy of the tarot, I shall now place within your hands a simple way of accessing it's powers.
The Emperor. This trump is associated with the astrological sign Aries. It is placed in the position of equilibrium on the first level. Metaphorically, this person is the Pharoh of Egypt, master of all he surveys. He can pick and choose among the items that have been created by the first three trumps. This is a useful power to have in one's life. You can bring balance to yourself through contemplation of the card itself. You can also bring the balancing energy into your life by throwing out trash, sorting through items, or performing the act of looking and sorting. Do not take my word for this. Go forth and perform some action, sort through your laundry, or re-arrange your desk. Just do it.
Each of the trumps have a corresponding action. Your subconscious will tell you what they are. All you have to do is ask. And, of course, you have to pay attention to listen for the answer, and show respect by following through.
