Jupiter in Capricorn
I must admit, ElsaElsa saying that Jupiter does not like being in Capricorn * hurt my feelings. The tears flowed down my face. My hands began to shake. I dropped, almost, my morning cup of coffee. Mister Whiskers, my adorable house cat, rolled over on his pillow.
I take umbrage at the idea that Jupiter does not like to be in Capricorn. Poor Capricorn gets a lot of cheap hits from more talented signs: the air signs are more adept with words and documents and can outdo poor Capricorn in larceny; the water signs have a much better sex life, leaving poor Capricorn all alone, holding the whip and struggling in some uncomfortable corset; the fire signs are all consumed with ideas well, beyond the grasp of the earth bound plodder that is Capricorn. As for the earth signs, well Taurus eats better, and Virgo makes more sense. Indeed, Capricorn has no marketing advantage, and sells purely on convenience and the price point.
Jupiter does just fine in Capricorn. The tenth sign is just across the street from the ninth house, where Jupiter rules. This is not a relationship of dislike of neighbours. Instead, here Jupiter gets access to things that would be better that he left alone: things like power, armies: an acquisitive and accommodating Roman Senate with bored legions. Jupiter brings victory to the table, and while victory is nice in the Sagittarian sense (victory in the courtroom! Victory of ideas!), or Pisces (victory over disease! Lets win the lottery!), or Cancer (calm weather at sea, bountiful crops, and mom and dad buying you a pony), perhaps when your astrologer tells you that you will live at a time when generals are celebrating triumphs, that you will enjoy good conversation in your frequent visits to the bomb shelter, or that a kind man will just happen to have a gas mask cartridge when you need it most, is not quite the wonderful stuff you would look forward to when Jupiter is elsewhere.
Good luck, good leadership, legal acumen, are all still present. You may squirm when you see who are the beneficiaries of this. The scowling miser who wins the lottery, the scum politician wins the nomination, and the ruthless capitalist gets off on appeal. So what? These will only afflict you in your personal world if you have a square or opposition from the transiting Jupiter. You are going to be afflicted anyway from this point, and this point is in Capricorn.
Complain and gripe all you want about Jupiter if you have this sensitivity. But dread Saturn will travel there as well, and an exalted Mars will march through with his four buddies of the apocalypse. These are far more challenging than Jupiter, and in his own way, Jupiter will give you the filthy lucre, the slimy lawyer, and the bank error in your favour that will save you from the two darkest planets in the sky. Better to be thankful for the rigged dice, because you will need them later. Capricorns know this; welcome to their world.
