Old Sign, Sign, Everywhere An Old Sign
LONDON Pensioners’ groups are calling for the sign you see in the picture to be scrapped because they deem it insulting to the elderly:Barry Earnshaw, Age Concern Lincoln chief executive, said: “The sign doesn’t represent older people as they are today. There should be a generic sign that is representative of all vulnerable pedestrians, regardless of age.”To be quite honest, at first I thought this was a sign promoting men to have their colons checked.
In this age of hyper-sensitivity that we live in, I can see how this sign would upset some old people. We need to make sure signs are more representative of the demographic which they represent. For instance, old people aren't hunched over fossils with canes, like what you see in the picture, they are more likely to be argumentative coots pushing a walker and smelling of urine and Ben Gay.
Hey you kids, get off my lawn!
