A House Divided ... who cares?
Political discourse here on the internet has separated into pools of water and blobs of oil. While the debate is fueled with quick access to data, no progress is being made, neither right nor left, in public opinion.
Take the war in Afghanistan, for example. The left opposes it; the right supports it. Both sides call each other names. Spectres of evil agendas are conjured. Bolsheviks versus Klansmen, it seems. But for the vast majority, they do not care. While those Canadians who do care, do care because they have friends or family in the military, or whose jobs are dependent upon illegal immigration or youth crime, the rest of Canada really would rather drink beer, watch boobs, and play the lottery.
World events touch very few of us in Toronto, the perfect city. The terrorism that the right seems so afraid of, when it did come to us, it was a Three Stooges effort. Nobody was killed, nobody was hurt, so the body politic that does not care continues to not care. The Bolsheviks blamed their favourite causes and demanded more taxspending; and the Klansmen blamed their favourite causes. So what? Toronto is Untouchable. Elliot Ness protects us from the firmament, having died and become a Liberal party voter.
Nothing really can get done in a house divided. The left is frustrated because it cannot spend the billions that capitalism is creating; The right is frustrated because they cannot sleep at night for fear of Toronto blowing up in an atomic explosion ordered by Osama. Neither really can comprehend the issues of the other. Can youth crime be cured with a few more hallway monitors? A vegetarian breakfast? Maybe some plush toys with ethnic themes? These all sound rather silly to the majority who do not care. Likewise the final solution of firing squads and forced labor, shovelling snow. In their hearts, the majority knows that youth criminals are doing a rather good job of shooting each other in the head, so why spend money to feed them, unless it is to fatten them up for organ donation? Grandpa needs a new kidney, and if it is steaming fresh from Jane and Finch, well, who cares? Could you imagine the paperwork if his new kidney came from a death camp? Could those bunglers in Ottawa even run a death camp?
Who cares? And most do not. But, here is the rub. Yes, the war in Afghanistan (and Iraq) will be over soon. The Bolsheviks say that there will be no more terrorism after this; The Klan says that there will. And, in the absence of domestic terror, Content-Canadians will remain content. Content like frogs being slowly boiled in a Global Warming science experiment. Content indeed. And this contentment is conditional upon the Bolsheviks being right. As long as there is no domestic terrorism, there will be happy meals and plush toys aplenty for the activists to adminster to the xillions of Oppressed-Canadians. Much will be spent, a little accounted for. And for the atheist activists who administer the United Church of the left, all will be sunshine and light. Because the Taxpayer-Canadian will be undisturbed in his beer, boob-oogling, and lottery dreaming.
The Night of the Long Knives. I really do not know what will happen if there is an act of domestic terrorism. The Taxpayer-Canadians will be disturbed. Those of us whose culture has been purged on the altars of appeasement to one Oppressed-Canadian sentiment or the other will be rolling over to go back to sleep when the Gestapo comes pounding for the terrorist enabler next door. The Bolsheviks have done a good job of earning the hatred of the police, fire department, Boy Scouts, Catholics, Evangelicals, Mormons, military, gun owners, smokers, and non-minorities with jobs, that there will be few to defend the civil rights of those that let the barbarians through the lines. Having been called racist so often, some might actually act like real racists. Thank God I was born white.
You bet your life! So, I hope and pray to Set, the Snake God, that the Bolsheviks are right that terrorism does not come to disturb the peace and tranquility of our fellow Landru-Canadians. The Bolshies have alot at stake here; Taxpayer-Canadians just pay taxes.
