Brandy Gets Help From The Racism Industry
Black civil rights leaders are calling on City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo to drop misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges against Brandy, whose Land Rover slammed into a Toyota on the 405 Freeway killing the driver, claiming that she is being unfairly targeted:Today, Najee Ali, leader of Project Islamic HOPE, said the CHP's recommendation to file charges against the singer "is unfairly targeting her for prosecution because of her celebrity." Ali told TMZ he is organizing an e-mail campaign in the African American community to put pressure on City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo to reject the case.It seems there is a new twist on an old game starting. Black civil rights leaders aren't protesting the police filing charges against a black person, they are upset because the police want to file charges against a celebrity. Bra.Vo.
Let's recap: Brandy failed to respond appropriately after cars were slowing down, causing her to hit the back of another vehicle, sending it into oncoming traffic where the car was struck again, killing the driver.
Here is the definition of vehicular manslaughter as told to us by attorney Ken Nugent:
To cause someone else's death because of illegal driving of a motor vehicle. This crime can include gross negligence, drunk or reckless driving or speeding.Although Brandy wasn't drunk, possibly not reckless, possibly not speeding, she certainly was negligent.
Najee Ali and black leaders need to call this one straight out: They're upset because Brandy is one of their own. She's black. Don't beat around the bush, don't get all mamby pamby with it, just say what you mean. We Don't want Brandy charged because she is black.
Najee should let justice take its course and move on to more pressing problems, like getting Eddie Murphy to apologize for billboards that demean black women.
Brandy's on target
