Tom Green Defends Michael Richards
Shock comedian, Tom Green, has come to the defence of Michael Richards, saying that although what Richard's said was shocking, it doesn't make him a racist:"Unlike Mel Gibson, who probably does hold racist attitudes, I don't think Michael Richards doesn't like black people. I think he was just trying to say the craziest and most vile thing in that room he could possibly muster. And I think he dug deep, into the darkest corners of his mind, to say those evil things to those men.You would think that the last person Richard's needs to defend him is a guy who drinks his own urine, but Tom Green does in fact have a point.
"But he did it in a small room, in an exchange, during a performance, and it wasn't meant for us. It was just meant for that room. So why don't we just let them settle it? Let's leave Michael Richards alone."
If Richard's was stopped by the po po and called the cop a *nigger*, then yes, I would say that Richard's has a deep hatred for blacks. But this was a comedy club, comedians say the damnest things their. Comics are playing a part, trying to get a reaction as best they can, that's their job. Did Richard's go over the line? Not necessarily. What if the audience laughed the first time Richard's said the word *nigger*? What if the black people laughed at it? Then it might have been funny in context, right? Right. Obviously though, it didn't work out that way, people are hypersensitive about some words, it's as if the words have magical powers that can kill you.
So, that's my take on it. I hope this doesn't mean I'll have to attend sensitivity training now.
