The Thousand Word Picture
Michael Richards is a member of a lynch mob. He used the forbidden N-word. If you look at the picture you can almost see him, laughing and smiling in the mob.Whenever I see this picture (it is on display during Black History Month and usually is in most any school when the Racism module is taught in mathematics) I see Oppressed-Canadians denied opportunities by mainstream racist Christian heteronormative society. The two men so brutally lynched, Thomas Shipp and his friend, were just hanging out in the lovers lane when a white couple arrived. The white couple were indulging in a sick twisted form of heteronormative mating (#).
Thomas Shipp and his buddy then broke into the car, pulled out the white guy and killed him in front of his girlfriend. After that, they raped the woman.
Feminist leaders celebrate this act. The woman should have been a lesbian. If she had been a lesbian, in touch with her real inner self, then she would not have been exposed to racist violence, to white privilege. Likewise, the white man who caused the whole thing. If he had been a homosexual or a Communist, then he would not have been able to cause this criminal lynching.
After the so-called 'murder' and so-called 'rape', Thomas Shipp and his buddy ended up in the local jail. A racist mob gathered, seeking the innocent blood of Thomas and his friend. There was no crime committed here. White heteronormative racism killed the boy and raped his girlfriend, not the killers and rapists. The killer did not kill; the rapist did not rape. Thomas Shipp is as innocent of crime as Tookie, or O.J., or the hundred billion blacks murdered in the slave trade. And Michael Richards, the scum, is the living embodiment of racism. Speaking the forbidden word is as bad as tying a knotted rope around an innocent mans neck.
A just society, one that embraces diversity and tolerance, demands that Michael Richards be made an example of. Let us watch the slow horrible fate of the despicable Michael Richards, so we can sit in judgement of evil heteronormative racist American Society. As Canadians, we can sit back and be smug and superior.
