Texas is Turning Into Massachusetts

That's not quite true, even Massachusetts hasn't done this...yet:
FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission sent a message to bar patrons last week.

TABC agents and Irving police swept through 36 Irving bars and arrested about 30 people on charges of public intoxication. Agency representatives say the move came as a proactive measure to curtail drunken driving.

At one location, for example, agents and police arrested patrons of a hotel bar. Some of the suspects said they were registered at the hotel and had no intention of driving. Arresting authorities said the patrons were a danger to themselves and others.
*Proactive Measures*. That's classic.

The TABC might want to consider arresting drinkers as they buy the booze in the store, that will really send a message to potential drinking and driving lunatics.
"Going to a bar is not an opportunity to go get drunk," TABC Capt. David Alexander said. "It's to have a good time but not to get drunk."
Wrong. Going to a bar gives you the opportunity to either drink a bit and have some fun, or drink until you see the virgin Mary. Either way, it's your money, it's your brain cells, and the po po shouldn't have the right to hassle innocent people who have chosen to drink in a bar.

If you can't go to a bar and blow off some steam and get good and ripped, then this world needs to implode and we should all just die. Bars are good for three things and barely three things at best: Getting polluted, meeting your next potential victim, and eating crappy food that clogs your arteries. If you take away the drunk factor, bars are boring as the day is long.

And this is Texas we're talking about. Texas is suppose to be a place where you not only can get plastered in a bar, but while you're getting plastered you can shoot the beer bottles off the table. What the hell is going on here?
