BBC Launches Disabled Top Model Series

Working off the reality TV successes of such shows as America's Top Model, the BBC is launching a show entitled Britain's Missing Top Model. In it, the contestants all have a physical disability:
a woman whose arm was severed in a bus crash, another who is profoundly deaf and an aspiring film director who suffers from a degenerative neuro-muscular disorder, which means she is largely confined to a wheelchair.Well, okay then, as long as the producers of the show are doing this for strictly altruistic reasons and not just for ratings. I know, how could I even doubt the intentions of anyone that works in TV land, they are all so honest and forthright.
"Eight contestants live together in a fully accessible apartment, get fashion model training from the best in the business, and fight it out for the ultimate prize ... their own photo spread in one of the country's premier fashion magazines," said the BBC website.
The show's creators hoped the series would challenge pre-conceived notions of beauty and raise disability awareness.
Where will this reality TV madness end? It will end when they produce a show that involves 8 mentally retarded pygmies that have to live in a pit with wild boars and one loaded shotgun. The winner not only gets a frontal lobotomy, but also gets a free makeover by a New York cosmetologist and also gets to go on all the rides at any Six Flag amusement park in Connecticut with Oprah Winfrey. I call this show, "Pygmy Power--Challenge Your Attitude!"
