Happy VD
TLDG works for the man as a grade 2 teacher in Toronto. She was telling me about her day today and the subject of Valentine's came up. She told me that every teacher in her school *encourages* their kids before VD to either bring VD cards for all their classmates or don't bring in any at all. This way, ugly Suzie and smelly Billy feel loved and wanted. While this may satisfy the teachers and their overlords and make them feel all warm and fuzzy, it doesn't help ugly Suzie or smelly Billy in the long run. You see, if kids are basically made to bring in cards for every kid, whether they are liked or not, it's teaching kids to be dishonest about their feelings. They'll end up harbouring nasty thoughts towards ugly Suzie and smelly Billy, and the ugly and smelly kids will get it back in spades.
Ugly Suzie and smelly Billy are only helped in the short-term by this. When they get older, they'll find their VD cards will dwindle from 30 to 15 to 3 to inevitably, only a ransom note demanding lunch money or the bullies will stick a nail through ugly and or smelly's pet rabbits head. This is generally why the ugly and smelly grade two kids become crack addicts and b-roll porno rejects in later life. If I've seen it once...
I want you to think about this tonight as you're mounting your loved one and making him/her/it flail around the bed like a worm on the sidewalk in the hot July sun. Think about ugly Suzie and smelly Billy As a society, we can not and should not fail them. Let's let them know immediately that they are not really liked or welcomed. It's not as if our words will make them less ugly or smelly.
Praise be to Allah
