Palestinians Make A Run For The Border
A Hamas border guard interviewed by The Times at the border today, admitted that the Islamist group was responsible for blowing up 3/4 of the fence between Egypt and Gaza, sending hundreds of thousands of Palestinians across into Egypt:That meant that when the explosive charges were set off in 17 different locations after midnight last night the 40ft wall came tumbling down, leaving it lying like a broken concertina down the middle of no-man's land as an estimated 350,000 Gazans flooded into Egypt.Apparently it was quite a scene when the Palestinians started to return from Egypt to their homes in Gaza:
Asked whether he had reported it to the government, he replied: "It was the government that was doing this. Who would I report it to?"
Thousands of people were herding back cows, sheep and even camels from Egypt into the Gaza strip. Others brought back motorbikes while many women lugged back cans of olive oil and men could be seen weighed down with jerry-cans full of fuel.Keep in mind that Israel had closed their border with the Palestinians after rockets from the Gaza side bombarded Israel for months. The border has since been re-opened.
Some staggered back into Gaza carrying televisions, and others sported brand-new mobile phones.
Egyptian shopkeepers swiftly raised prices of milk, taxi rides and cigarettes, but that did not deter the Gazans, for many of whom it was their first trip out of the territory.
A few things that caught my attention about this article: Firstly, Egypt has a wall up between them and the Palestinians, just like the hated Israeli's do. That's some deep Islamic love going on between brothers, isn't it?
Secondly, Palestinians are often referred to as *poor* and *disadvantaged* and *impoverished*, yet that didn't deter these poor, disadvantaged and impoverished people from coming back from Egypt with new cell phones, motor bikes and televisions. That's curious.
Thirdly, from what we hear, Moslems throughout the Middle East, and especially Egypt, support their Palestinian brothers and their fight against the Zionists. Yet, they have no trouble hiking the prices of food, gas, smokes, you name it, against the poor, disadvantaged and impoverished Palestinians just to make some extra loot. That's pathetic.
So there you have it, just another normal day in the Gaza.
