The Bear On The Bridge

Many of you may be looking at this picture and thinking, "Holy frick. Look at the frickin' bear on the frickin' bridge, it's going to frickin' die". I look at the picture and it doesn't startle me in the least, for there was a time in my life where I worked for Mitchieville's Bear Suicide Prevention Unit (MBSPU). I've seen this scene a thousand times if I've seen it once. The stories I could tell you would send shivers down your spine. The things I've encountered would make a grizzled military veteran puke up his pork chops.
Many of you may also be thinking that working for MBSPU is a job that gives great personal satisfaction. A worthwhile job, a job with meaning. You may think that seeing the pleasure, the happiness in the face of a bear that you just talked off a 46 story highrise is the greatest satisfaction obtainable by man. Well, you're all fucking stupid, it's not even close to that at all.
You would think a bear would thank you after your extreme good deed. You'd think they'd send you money or a nice pot of honey, but no, they give you a dirty look, like they did you a favour and then walk away as if they don't know how to communicate with you. Then they refuse all attempts to join a guidance group and end up eating the suicide prevention hot-line card you give them. Ya, how's that satisfaction grab ya?
But you know who doesn't feel that way and has many more amazing pictures of the bear that dangled from a bridge? The Retired Geez from Blog Idaho. He's got the goods, the story that will make you feel all warm and cuddly.
That's two beautiful stories in two days. Maybe you can put the Peabody Award on my mantle next to my U.N. Humanitarian of the Year award.
