Butter or Margarine?
When I was a child, margarine wasn't even part of the English lexicon. Every food that my ma prepared, every sandwich which landed in my lunch bag had butter on it.
About 30 years ago, that changed. I remember at the time there was a big hubbabaloo about how bad butter was for you, and margarine was the wave of the future. Margarine had less calories, less fat and less cholesterol. I remember that this knowledge wasn't debated, it quickly became fact.
The thing I could never figure out, was how was it possible that for hundreds of years my family had been eating butter and not only surviving, but looking back on family history, had little or no heart disease. Could butter have really been that bad? The short answer is no, butter isn't that bad. As for margarine, I'll let you be the judge:
I don't know the reasons why butter has taken such a shit kicking the last three decades or so, I have no answers as to why margarine has been set up as a healthy alternative. I do know that I have been eating butter all my life and I'm one of the most healthiest specimens to ever grace God's green earth. That goes the same for my entire family, we never fell for the whole *butter is the devil* bullshit, and we all have a clean bill of health.
Eat butter, let the people who are willing to risk heart disease eat margarine. I can't save the world, I wouldn't want to, but I do want to save Mitchievillians from making horrible food choices. Why? Simple: I love you. Without you there is no me.
Now go and get yourself a tub of butter and a spoon and get eating, your life depends on it.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. Here is the part that I found most disturbing:
Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the
same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
Very high in trans fatty acids...Triple risk of coronary heart disease.
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol)
Lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol) ..
Increases the risk of cancers by up to five fold...
Lowers quality of breast milk
Decreases immune response..
Decreases insulin response.
Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC...Why? Because the shit's nearly plastic.
Margarine is initially BLACK, but it is DYED YELLOW to look like butter.
These facts alone should be enough to have anyone avoiding margarine for
life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added,
changing the molecular structure of the substance)..
EXPERIMENT: purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or
shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things:
No flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should
tell you something)...and it does not rot or smell differently.... Because
it has no nutritional value, nothing will grow on it... even those
micro-organisms will not find a home to grow.
