CBC employee's strike, and no one cares

5500 employee's of the CBC(Canada's publicly funded welfare case of a T.V. station)have gone on strike. Funny thing is though, no one cares. Nobody. Apparently though, the strike has caused hardships in the *news* department.
...the most noticeable change has been the absence of any apparent effort to mount a management-produced television newscast, relying in prime time and over the supper hour on imported feeds of the BBC World News service.

Newsworld has been limited to one-minute roundups of Canadian news read by managers before handing things off to the BBC.
Until Hockey season starts, not a Canadian soul will miss the CBC, after all, there is only so much Anne of Green Gables a person can watch.
NDP leader Jack Layton is urging Heritage Minister Liza Frulla to protect Canadian programming by ending years of neglect of the public broadcaster. The New Democrats say the current lockout is the direct result of a lack of commitment from the Liberal government to protect and promote public broadcasting.
Good call, Jack. The taxpayers of Canada only subsidize the CBC to the tune of about $1.1 billion a year. I'm guessing Jack thinks we should promote public broadcasting by sinking more money into it. Sinking more taxpayers dollars into something that no one cares about, no one watches, and has become completely irrelevant in the lives of the average Canadian. Good call, Jack, good call indeed. Freakin' Socialists.

We certainly don't need to "protect" public broadcasting, it should be able to sink or swim on its own. If you can't generate revenue, and the CBC can't, then why should it exist? The answer is simple, it shouldn't.

The CBC has been a big joke for a long time, as a matter of fact, it's been a big bad joke for a long time. The CBC is a mouthpiece of the Liberal government and it can always count on the Lieberals to keep feeding it OUR money. I believe the figure I read the other day was that the CBC owns a whopping 3.3% market share. Even Mitchieville gets more visits a day.

Now you'll have to excuse me, there's something on FOX.

Article here. **Caution** The article is as boring as the CBC is good, it's best to skip it.
