Mitchieville--A Community That Love Built
As most of you know, I have been very sick lately. The doctors gave me a terrible prognosis, and truth be told, most men upon hearing what I heard would have rolled up into a ball and died. I, on the other hand, knew that you, the kind, compassionate and gentle souls of Mitchieville need and depend on me on a daily basis. I overcame.Despite being on my deathbed, despite being told that my time on the earth was limited to mere minutes, I had to leave Mitchieville over the weekend to be with the citizens of New Orleans. I know you need me, but the citizens of NO needed me more. They called out for my support, they needed me to be with them. And even though I was in a full body cast, only 1/10th of my heart was working and I was hooked up to machines that did my breathing for me, I set off to NO to help. That's what I do, I make things better.
When I stepped off the plane (I flew third class and gave $700 to a carbon credit company to plant trees in Peru to offset my footprint), I rushed to the city center of NO and immediately started to help. The wonderful folk of NO greeted me, they had tears in their eyes, and every single soul of NO--and we're talking nearly 300,000 people--told me that me being there was the single most important thing they have ever experienced in their lives.
The storm came and the storm went. My condition got no better, yet I was still able to save lives...and hearts and minds. Some poor folk were trapped on their houses, and since GWB hates blacks, he demanded that all helicopters be grounded. I paid $3000 of my own money (and gave $600 to a carbon credit company to plant trees in Arizona to offset my footprint) to rent a helicopter, flew over their shanty houses, slid down a very dangerous rope and saved many, many people from certain death. You see, I care. Did I mention GWB hates blacks?
I just got in a few minutes ago--I arrived at 6 but was rushed to the Mitchieville emergency unit, as I had lost much blood due to a terrible nose bleed I experienced on descent from a rather treacherous plane ride. After my visit to the hospital--in which I read stories from a large book to dying Cub Scouts--I came back to The Manor, turned on the computer only to find that Fenris has called an election.
I'll have more to say about this later, but for now I am just glad to be home, and to be alive.
Hope.
Change.
Hope for Change.
Change for Hope.
Vote The Mayor--I Care.
