Speed Doesn't Kill--Gov't Kills

"The only regret I have now, in hindsight, is that I didn't go after 30 over [the limit] as opposed to 50 over."Why not 25 km over then? Or 20 km? Hell, if the commissioner is just pulling random numbers out of his ass, why not levy $10000 fines for going 1 km over? Julien didn't mention that 100 km maximum on a highway should be a crime, modern cars shouldn't have to go that slow. But with an extra 2-10 million a year, why would Fantino want the speed limit upgraded?
Listen, no one likes speed demons, they're a hazard. But taking away a guys car for a week, without first having a trial to see if the person is guilty? And now Fantino is even suggesting doing the same for people going 30 km over? What a douche, he's a police commissioner not the police Commisar.
I know what you're saying, it's all about saving lives, right?
In the past eight years, 39 people have been killed in Ontario in street-racing incidents.Which works out to the same amount of people killed by guns in Toronto so far this year. 39 people killed in 8 years is about one person every two and a half months, or 5 people a year. Considering more people die in Ontario each year choking on corn niblets, street racers aren't exactly plowing down innocents left, right and center.
Julien Fantino needs to give his head a shake and settle the hell down. Fantino needs to work on getting the speed limits up, getting the old people off the road. If anyone should be charged with speeding, it's Fantino's big mouth.
