Iran Continuing Nuclear Work
The International Atomic Agency, a U.N. nuclear watchdog group, has come out with a report that states that Iran is not only ignoring the security council to stop with its enrichment program, but has actually expanded its program:VIENNA, Austria -Iran has ignored a U.N. Security Council ultimatum to freeze uranium enrichment — a possible pathway to nuclear arms — and has instead expanded its program by setting up hundreds of centrifuges, the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency said Thursday. How could this be? The UN has already *demanded* that Iran stop its program, they already have *stiff* sanctions in place. I'll bet my left one that the UN will get even harsher with Iran right away:
The conclusions were important because they could serve as the trigger for the council to start deliberating on new sanctions meant to punish Tehran for its nuclear intransigenceWow, Iran is in for it now, it doesn't have the foggiest who it's dealing with. Right after the UN starts *deliberating on new sanctions*, maybe in 6-8 months, the UN is going to put its foot down on the neck of Iran. What the UN should do is repudiate Iran, that'll learn 'em:
Burns said he hopes the United States and other permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, plus Germany, can quickly draft a resolution to "see Iran repudiated again."In yer face, Iran, prepare to be repudiated. If Iran fails to cooperate after being repudiated, the UN will have no choice but to denounce them. If that fails, the final step will be to spurn them.
At least the world powers have grouped together as one voice, to tell Iran we won't put up with this!
Russia's U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said Thursday he had "no substantive comment" on the IAEA report. So, what was that part about the sanctions again?
"We should not lose sight of the goal — and the goal is not to have a resolution or to impose sanctions," he said. "The goal is to accomplish a political outcome."
It doesn't matter anyway, the UN is taking care of us. It's not like they let this thing simmer for years, or decades...hahaha, they wouldn't be that stupid:
The IAEA began probing Iran's nuclear activities more than four years ago, after revelations of nearly 20 years of secret work that included plans to enrich uranium.Oh. Well, at least Iran guaranteed us they only want nukes for peaceful purposes.
Since then, the IAEA has made several worrying finds, such as Iranian experiments with plutonium, unexplained traces of enriched uranium and a 15-page document showing how to mold uranium into the shape of nuclear warheads.
That'll make me sleep well tonight.
