Bush briefed on attacks

Update: Explosions struck three London Underground stations and a bus at midday Thursday, one injury reported.

UPDATE: Speculation suggests the detonators on these devices went off, but the bombs themselves did not.

Reports say that there are no signs that biological weapons were used.

Sky TV reported that police said they were searching a London hospital for a man wearing a blue shirt with wires protuding from a hole in the back.

The hospital is near Warren Street station, where police said one of three small devices detonated. The other blasts were reported at Oval and Shepherd's Bush stations.

From the Guardian, 10:40 A.M. There are reports as I write that the police have captured the bomber at Warren Street, or chased him into a nearby hospital. There also should be valuable evidence from CCTV cameras.

Armed police have arrested a man at gunpoint near the entrance to Downing Street.

The suspect, of Asian origin, was led away in handcuffs as a police officer trained his MP5 sub-machine gun on him.

The man appeared to be naked underneath his jacket.
