A Bird In The Hand
When I'm speaking to someone and I have no idea what the hell they're saying, I usually resort to spitting out a bunch of worn out cliches. When all else fails I can always count on a cliche to save my bacon. "What's that Tim, you think you'd like to move downtown?" "Well, the grass is always greener on the other side". Shit like that, I don't have time in my busy life to actually think of something smart to say all the time, so I just dig down deep into my bag of cliches and throw the person a pearl.
Whenever you use a cliche properly, people actually think you're smart. It's true, for some odd reason people mistake cliches for deep meaningful thought, when in fact it's a precursor for me beating a line for the door. When I use a cliche you can rest assured that my next sentence will begin with "o.k., I gotta go now".
If you're having trouble thinking of anything smart to say, then you really need to take a trip over to The Book of Cliches .
While it's not the most comprehensive site for cliches, they do have the top ones on there. And what we're looking for is quality, not quantity. Can I get a hell yes?
