Strike Three--Blacks, Women, Handicapables Are Out

Although baseball has received its best grade ever for racial hiring, apparently there is still a whole hell of a lot of work to do...damn it

MLB received a C-plus for gender hiring, up from a C last year. Its overall grade remained at B.

Lapchick said 28 percent of employees at baseball's central offices were nonwhite, including 20 percent among senior executives. Women were 42 percent of employees, but 26 percent of the senior executives.

He suggested baseball commissioner Bud Selig pressure clubs more to consider minority candidates. He also said MLB should institute a rule that a woman be considered for all senior job openings, similar to the rule that minority candidates must be interviewed.

Among major leaguers, though, just 8.2 percent were black players, down from 8.4 percent in 2006 and the lowest level in at least two decades.

Man, blacks just can't catch a break in major league sports.

If you are a white man and are interested in getting involved in pro sports, either on the field or in the offices, here is my suggestion: don't. Become an accountant or a truck driver, there is no room for you at the inn.

While it is true that the % of whites playing basketball has remained steady at 1% for the last 30 years, and while it is true that the % of whites playing football has remained steady at 1% over the last 30 years, all that means shit because the % of blacks on the baseball field has spiraled .2% in the last year.

Some people won't be happy until baseball is run by a bunch of pussies.
