Grief Councilors Are There For Our Children
A 36-year-old man was arrested and admitted to hospital today after he ran naked through a downtown Toronto grade school:"It was very brief. For a matter of seconds he was in the school," Baker said.I sure hope those children will be able to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. I'm sure the councilors made a difference today.
King Edward's principal held an assembly during the lunch hour, discussing personal safety with the students. Those who witnessed the man streaking were given counseling, and notes were sent home to parents outlining the ordeal, Baker said.
A few weeks ago at Sheridan college in Oakville, Ont, one of the college professors called 911 to report seeing a man on campus with a rifle. The college went into lockdown, a brigade of burly, well armed cops went in and took the culprit down. It turned out the maniac was carrying a camera tripod. Oopsie. Later that night on the news, they were showing footage of the college, and there were two female students outside the doors of Sheridan, weeping, with grief councilors in tow, trying to bring sense to the two poor daffodils, trying to help them cope with the trauma of being on campus the day a madman with a tripod destroyed their innocence.
Thank the Lord in the heavens above that we now have grief councilors in our schools. Whether a child sees a pee pee or a bum bum, or whether an adult student witnesses some twisted individual with a loaded tripod, I will sleep well tonight knowing that there are teams of grief councilors scouring the hallways of our learning institutions, putting the broken lives of our children back together.
Good Grief
