Command Decision

From the files of the Fenris Badwulf School of Telemarketing Excellence ... this is one of the typical decisions that You, Activist, must make in your quest to talk more about helping those less fortunate and act to amass more pension and benefits for yourself. Take the challenge!

Background: You are the one payroll clerk with ability in a Unionized, Pro-Union shop. Your co-workers spend their days attending literacy and social skills workshops, leaving you in command of the glacial paper flow. A heavy burden of responsibility falls upon your shoulders. But you are rewarded generously with pension, benefits, and a life-time position. But, you want more. How do you get a bigger grab of the taxpayers money? By correctly solving the following problem:

Scenario: A routine mass layoff (based on seniority) has occured. These people are under thirty years of age, and are expendible, unlike important baby-boomers who have children, ex-wives, houses, cottages, cars, and vacations in Thailand to support. But the paperwork for one of the laid off is incomplete. Employer policy is to give one weeks notice of layoff, and this person does not have paperwork to show they worked this last week. Their security pass is also unaccounted for. What do you do? Pay them for the week, or not? Do you make enquiries as to where their security pass is?

More Background: If you do not pay this employee, they will file charges against you in the Union. This will adversely affect your standing in the Union. If you do pay the employee for this missing last week, nobody will notice. It is, after all, your job, to notice these things. Besides, the taxpayers have lots of money that they are not using. Which is more important? Your future access to more pension and benefits, or a few hundred dollars of someone elses money? Make a decision!

Even More Background: As far as the real world goes, it has been noticed that when an employee has notice of layoff, incidents of sabotage and injury occur. Not in all cases, mind you. It is, of course, justified in the case of any sort of oppressed person, acting in anger at years of oppression, repression, or inadequate social spending. So, getting that security card back is important. None the less, being at the bottom of the shit flows downhill ecosystem, some uproar will occur. How do you avoid that? It is, after all, your job, to notice these things. Hmmmm. Perhaps the best course of action would be to forge a smeary initial on The Return of Security Clearance Card Form. This is for a good cause: your financial self interest. You agree with Al Gore about so many things, so he would probably agree with you in this matter. Which is more important? Your future access to more pension and benefits, or an urban terrorist with the potential to kill many other people and destroy tens of thousands of dollars of equipment paid for with other peoples money? Make a decision!

Post your answers to these questions, along with your insightful comments and moving poetry. Everyone wins access to a free sales seminar at The Fenris Badwulf School of Telemarketing Excellence. Hurry!
