Alchemy for Investors, part 8

The astrologers tell us that Saturn is balanced off by the planet Jupiter. So, as alchemists, we would expect that the trump that represents Jupiter (The Wheel of Fortune) to mirror this relationship.

Well, the two cards have many points of similarity. Infact, there are the only two trumps with those four figures of man, eagle, lion, and bull. And an astrologer will tell you that these four figures represent the four fixed signs of the zodiac, namely Aquarius, Scorpio, Leo, and Taurus. But a study of the three by seven arrangement does not yield any obvious fulcrum.

Jupiter is not the equal but opposite of Saturn. Where Saturn is an administrative intellegence that enforces 'no exceptions', Jupiter is involved in an expansive process that includes 'no exceptions' in some sort of rotational event. This is shown by the central symbol, with is build from eight T-shapes. Recall that the T shape is a symbol for Saturn. The inverted T is present on the card that represents Venus (The Empress). So, we have Saturn with his limitiations, Imagination being able to undo them, and now Jupiter, involved in some process that spins them into manifestation. Hmmm. Contemplation of the trump The Wheel of Fortune should provide some insight into this process, a process which is central to your existance.

The Wheel of Fortune is found below The Empress. In astrology, this planet is associated with good fortune, expansion, and luck. He rules Sagittaurus and Pisces, the two signs which flank those ruled by Saturn, Capricorn and Aquarius. Written descriptions of the agency of this card are feeble in comparison to the insights available to you directly from study. As a start, note that there are eight T-shapes, the upright and the inverted are familiar to us. But what are the other six? And, what memory function (similiarity, contrast, intensity, repetition) links them to the figures of The World? Look at the card. Note your impressions in your journal.
