Animal Activists Are Knuts

Who in there right mind would want to put a cuddly wuddly baby bear to its death? Animal activists, of course:

"Raising him by hand is not appropriate to the species but rather a blatant violation of animal welfare laws," animal rights activist Frank Albrecht told newspaper Bild.

Berlin Zoo is allowing Knut to be raised in such a way that the bear will have a behavioral disorder for the rest of his life, Albrecht believes. "In actual fact, the zoo needs to kill the bear cub," he adds.

He's not alone, his is a position that is held by most animal activists. even the director of the zoo had his sites on offing the cute little bastard:

"I don't consider it appropriate for the species that the little polar bear is being raised on a bottle." The animal will be fixated on his keeper and not be a "real" polar bear, he says. However he feels it is now too late to put Knut out of his supposed misery. "The mistake has been made. One should have had the courage to put him to sleep much earlier."

I can see what the activists are saying, they don't think it a good idea that a bear born in captivity should be raised by the bottle. However, the damage is done, move on to stage two: Keeping it alive.

To smash the baby bears head in with a cinder block would be folly at this time. Sure, you could probably make a fortune selling tickets to people who get off on watching small animals have their heads crushed by cinder blocks, but that's hardly the point. That's what they wanted to do with this poor baby bear, wasn't it? They wanted to smash its head in, right? C'mon people, they're Germans, that's how every animal story ends with Germans. Well, either that or the animal gets shoved up someones ass.

Heinz, grab me that cub!
