In God We Trust, the Rest Pay Cash

After Pastor Marty Baker kicked off a $3 million building drive, he noticed that there weren't many parishioners that kept cash in pocket for the collection plate. To remedy the problem, Pastor Baker invented *Giving Kiosks*, or as I've re-named them, "Cash for Christ"
He designed his machine with the help of a computer programmer who attends Stevens Creek, and found ATM companies willing to assemble it for him. In early 2005, he introduced the first machine at his church.

Since then, kiosk giving has gradually gained acceptance among his upper-middle-class flock. The three kiosks are expected to take in between $200,000 and $240,000 this year, about 15% of the church's total donations.

"It's truly like an ATM for Jesus," Baker said.
Hehe, an ATM for Jesus, classic.

This makes sense to The Mayor. We live in the technology age, why shouldn't churches have ATM's?

The idea of kiosks in a church have gotten a few people upset, but some folks have a hard time embracing technology. Good luck rolling up pennies, non-embracing technical rejects. The devil mocks you.

You should read the rest of the article, it's very interesting. I'll leave you with a quote from the article that I thought was kind of amusing:
...some members choose the kiosk because they can earn bonus airline miles when they charge their donations, accountant Kristi Young said
An ATM For Jesus
