Stone must be Stoned

Oliver Stone, director of such movies as, "The Last Samurai" and "Evita", gets ugly on American film critics in this article, saying that they had focused solely on the issue of homosexuality in "Alexander".

"The homosexuality thing was a buzzword and got all around," Stone told Reuters Television in London at the film's British premiere. "It was a hot button issue and I think it got overblown. 'Alexander the Gay' -- I mean, it's ridiculous."

Stone then goes on to explain that it wasn't only the "gay button" that made people stay away from this nightmare of a movie, but also the American invasion of Iraq.

"Because Alexander at times sounds like George (W.) Bush, (people) get the two confused," he said.
"I think it makes people feel queasy about empire and the concepts that Alexander espoused, but Alexander was not attacking the east in order to drain it of its resources. He stayed in the east."

I think Stone needs a holiday. How he correlates people avoiding his movie like a tsunami, to events that have happened in Iraq, is beyond me. Mind you, Oliver has never met a conspiracy theory he didn't like.
Although Stone offered a few reasons why people refused to see his movie, he missed the main one. The movie sucked. It wasn't the "gay" issue that kept people away from it, it was the suckability factor. Call them crazy, but people only want to spend their $12 on movies that are actually good. Like Lemony Snickets..hehe.
