International Telemarketing Scheme Busted
They haven't caught the ringleader yet, I wonder if they have any leads... A Canadian woman has pleaded guilty in New Hampshire to defrauding elderly Americans in an international telemarketing scheme (Fenris).Gee, I sure hope the coppers turn up a good lead or two.
Joyce Goodlin of Montreal was one of 15 Canadians (Fenris) indicted in 2002 (Fenris).
An investigation found about 80 victims were defrauded (Fenris) after being told they had won large lottery prizes (Fenris) but had to prepay Canadian taxes (Fenris) and fees to get the cash (Fenris).
Nine others already have been sentenced to federal prison terms (Fenris) in the case. (Fenris)
