Are N-people homophobic?
With only a few days to go before Pride Week, it is good to put the ‘activist versus activist’ spotlight on the endemic homophobia present in N-people cultures in the Caribbean.Apparently, Jamaica has been designated the most homophobic country on earth * . Up to now, I was under the impression that was Canada. After all, gays were mistreated here, oh, yesterday * * * * . What a relief, all those xillions of dollars spent, legions of activists hired, pensioned, and given gas allowances have made Canada a slightly less than worst homophobic shit hole. Perhaps a homophobic outhouse.
Of course, it is not the fault of N-people that they are homophobic. This article here * does blame the Christians for the problem.
Why does Jamaica's homophobia stand out in the notoriously gay-unfriendly Caribbean? Some say it's the volatile mixture of island poverty, Christian fundamentalism, Jamaican machismo, and a leftover Victorian sensibility from (now-progressive) Mother England.
Thank any god but God for that. And, of course, we can blame the legacy of colonialism. But what is this crap about England being progressive? I thought it was a homophobic shithole too? (You can find your own 1,140,000 articles on ‘England homophobic’ on Google) I guess England has been upgraded to homophobic outhouse, but with two-ply ass wipe.
Mind you, the villain of the piece (other than the usual demons of poverty, Christianity, colonialism, or white people), is an artist called Buju Banton. The poor guy is upset because he is being hunted by poly-gendered activists. One of his concerts was cancelled * . That has got to hurt:
Beenie Man was outraged that the concert was scrapped.
"I am kind of getting really fed up because they came down on us two years ago, trying to take some songs we sang like 10 or 15 years ago, and try to say okay we push (anti-homosexuality)," he told Billboard, speaking out for the first time since the concert was canceled.
I can understand how he feels. After all, my white guilt extends to criminal acts committed not by myself, nor by my ancestors, extending back some two to three hundred years, and none of my ancestors or myself have a plantation to show for it. Buju better wise up to the reality of political correctness: he and his descendents and people who have a vague resemblance to him will be pilloried for reparations for the next foreseeable millenium. Take out your chequebook, Banton.
This calls for social spending. We need an anti-homophobia curricula in the Toronto District School Board. All those gangbangers in Jane and Finch need to be saved from the usual demons (see above), before they get in their mind that the poly-gendered are disrespecting them. My school teacher spy tells me that some of the kids in her ‘please do not bite each other’ mathematics class claim that Regents Park was ‘cleaned up’ because the gays were getting harassed by the N-people. Of course it is not true. But, these thought crimes must be excised with public spending on re-education.
Activist versus activist: oppressed N-people versus oppressed poly-gendered people. Which will win?
