Alchemy for Investors, part 10

From our discussion so far, we can see a strong correlation between astrological concepts and the Tarot. The twelve signs and the seven visible planets all have distinct matches in the set of trumps. This card corresponds to Capricorn. It is rather scary looking, like The Tower.

When contemplating this trump, the correct response is to laugh. Honestly, the figures are parodies. The big scary figure upon the throne is one not found in nature. It is man made, a child's plaything. Neither male nor female, it neither exists nor has ability. The two figures are chained to the altar, but the chains are loose and they can leave at any time. Their bondage is to ignorance and is self-imposed. Which is funny.

The Devil is in balance with The Magician when you arrange the trumps in the three by seven pattern. So, this card represents some manifestation of concentration. Indeed, when we are focused upon a problem it is because we have a problem, we do not know the answer, and we are in a state of ignorance. Our ignorance relates to our understanding of manifest reality, The World. It is also worth noting that The Devil is in balance with The World when you take the equilibrium of the third row into account.

Capricorn is the astrological sign that rules collective property, such as corporations, governments, and family trusts. Success in investing is strongly dependent upon these collectives, and is also strongly influenced by the ability of those within them to perceive reality correctly. We all have been amused by the stupidities of large corporations. Indeed, we laugh. But now, when it is our millions being invested, it is not so funny. So, contemplation of this trump will sharpen your ability to perceive reality. Pay attention to the details, they will spark off correspondences with other trumps, be it similar, different, repetitive, or intense.

A companies grasp of Capricornian strengths, and aversion to the vices of that sign is a good indirect way of assessing corporate strength. This is also the sign of the telemarketer, someone who appeals to greed and fear, selective positioning of facts, and cunning exploitation of the human psyche. Investment losses exist both at the hands of predators and dullards. Both are to be watched for, both the lying telemarketer and the stoned manager. You can lie to yourself, too. So, all of these perils can be addressed through contemplation of this trump.

This card often stimulates dreams, so have your journal handy when you go to sleep.
