If the Fwench haven't had their pride shaken enough in the past few years with government scandals, high unemployment, race riots, and having a completely ineffectual welfare state, this will surely make Pierre choke on his croissant:
To be fair, this contest was a recreation of a contest that was held 30 years earlier, and the wines which were tasted were from that period. However, the Fwench are still on the losing end years later.
One line that caught me was from a Fwench wine taster which voted (again) that the Cali wines are still far superior to the Fwench swamp juice that passes for wine:

The US has emerged victorious in a blind tasting by experts in London and California pitting US and French wine against each other.There are only three things that the Fwench are fiercely proud of: Their cheese, their wine, and their complete inability to fight. This must feel like a solid right hook to the gut.
The result was seen as a blow to French national pride and shocked the country's wine industry.
