I am Also Canadian is right--Harper isn't scary!
He's been saying this for months, but I never believed him, Harper isn't scary. Seems public opinion is changing about the boys in blue.
The Tories didn't lose ground over gay marriage, that's just silly. If anything they gained ground. Public opinion was on the Tories side, most Canadians didn't and DON'T want gay marriage.
The Tories have been absolutely hammered by the press for the last year, deflecting all the criticism away from Paul Martin and his ruthless posse of thieves and liars. The media's response to the Sponsorship scandal has been nothing less than pathetic, the Canadian public deserves better, of course they won't get it, but they deserve better.
The way I see it, maybe Canadians are sick of the lies, corruption, anti-Americanism, cronyism, back-stabbing, pork-barreling, anti-Christian, hate mongering that is our current dysfunctional government.
The Lieberals are sliding in the polls, which can only mean one thing...Media, start your engines, you have Tories to take down.

OTTAWA (CP) - The federal Conservatives are climbing back after a bruising few months and have sliced in half the Liberals' lead in public opinion, a new survey suggests. The rest of the article is chock full of reasons why the Conservatives were doing so badly, but not once is it mentioned how come they're now doing so well. Examples? Ya pal, I got yer examples:
The 13-point lead the Liberals enjoyed nationally in June and their massive 21-point advantage in the vital Ontario battleground were half of what they were, according to a poll provided to The Canadian Press by Decima Research.
Public opinion demanded increased social spending this spring, Anderson said. But the Tories promoted tax cuts and railed against spending initiatives in the federal budget.I have another reason why the Tories were losing ground: the media are so fucking biased against Conservatives that it can't see straight. The media should have been pounding the Liberals for all the fraud and corruption that they have been caught in, but instead they chose to pound Steven Harper for going to BBQ's and his new *make-over*.
The overwhelming majority of voters didn't want an election. The Conservatives and Bloc Quebecois pushed aggressively for one.
The public wanted political parties to work together and keep Parliament functional. The Tories and Bloc boycotted committees and shut down the Commons on several days when the Liberals delayed a non-confidence vote.
The Tories' vehement opposition to gay marriage in historic debates last spring might have pushed away centrist voters tempted to vote for them, Anderson said.
