The Toronto Sun is Bagged

The Toronto Sun, in its editorial today, suggests that the Canadian Government gets serious about the environment by taxing plastic bags:
Given the world produces as many as 5 trillion plastic shopping bags a year, think of the potential for a planet with 4 trillion fewer plastic bags.
Reporter Paul Burton goes on to say:
taxing them doesn't mean we should switch to paper bags, which don't rely on petrochemicals for their manufacture. In fact, plastic bags may be better for the environment, notwithstanding the fact they create an eyesore for decades.
And the grand finale ends thusly:
Governments know full well money motivates consumers. That's why they tax, and why they should continue to tax, consumables such as gasoline, alcohol and tobacco. So what if the Irish plastax is a cash grab? They're using the money for environmental projects.
I have an idea, let's get serious about the environment by taxing people who have necks. Hell, why stop there? We can have a plastic bag tax, a puppy tax, a people who vomit tax, a fellatio tax, a carpet tax, a anything and everything tax.

I'm surprised at the Toronto Sun for printing this mess, usually you can count on the Sun to be somewhat financially conservative. I suppose being owned by Quebec Corp is starting to take its toll.

If the Sun wants to cut down on mankind's carbon footprint, I suggest they close their doors, take the other 3 daily Toronto rags with them, and just put their news online. Look at all the paper they use, don't they know that trees are people too? Golly, if they stopped printing newspapers, that would spare the earth 7 trillion tons of carbon emissions toxic sludge death a year, or the equivalent of 160 gagillion pop cans.

Or don't they love the earth like we do?

Sounds like Paul Berton has been environmentally teabagged.
